Passenger Requirements
Passenger Requirements
Q: What are your age restrictions?
A: Ballooning is generally a very safe activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages; however, it is an activity that does include unpredictable weather and some physical and mental requirements of its passengers to insure safety .
At The Lake Geneva Balloon Company we’ve established the age of 8 as our minimum age for flying with us. This is based on our Chief Pilot’s years of experience in working with young people in both Scouting and as an Elementary School Teacher. Young passengers must be able to see over the edge of the basket without standing on something or being held by an adult. Additionally, they must have the maturity and intellect to understand and follow the pilot’s commands during flight.
We do not set an upper age limitation. We have taken passengers as old as 86 years of age. There are some things to consider when flying a senior citizen. Can the senior passenger stand for a full one and half hours? Do they have the upper body strength to hold on during a windy or bumpy landing? Has the passenger recently had hip, knee or other type of surgery? Is their mental state of mind sharp enough to understand the importance of following a pilot’s instructions?
Q: Do you fly women who are pregnant?
A: No. We never allow a pregnant woman to fly in our balloons. As we’ve said before, generally ballooning is a very safe activity, but there can be bumps and bounces do to changing weather conditions etc. If you are pregnant or become pregnant after the purchase of your certificate, please let us know and we’ll gladly reschedule you for another date after the baby is born. IF YOU SHOW UP TO THE LAUNCH FIELD PREGNANT, WE WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO BOARD THE BASKET FOR A FLIGHT. NO EXCEPTIONS.
